Vijay Intercontinental in Kanpur offers a spacious property, but overall feels a bit overpriced for the experience it delivers. The hotel is divided into two buildings — an older one for budget-conscious guests, and a newer one intended for premium customers. Unfortunately, the newer building resembles an old mansion in decline (khandar), with ongoing construction creating a constant disturbance. Parking is another concern — there’s no dedicated facility, and your car is left on the roadside under the supervision of a security guard. The hotel does have a gym with a full range of equipment, but poor maintenance renders it almost unusable. The property has potential to be a true 4-star hotel, but service and upkeep need serious improvement. The food is average, and the staff mostly consists of interns or trainees with limited experience, leading to slow and inconsistent service.

It claims to be a 5 star hotel but. . The swimming pool is open and there are workers working all around so you can't swim. The gym is under repair so there is no gym. There is no spa. They have a 24/7 coffee shop. Not seen many sitting there. Salt Restaurant is 10/10. Now the review. Location 5/5 It's located in the heart of Kanpur so it's the best hotel location wise. Rave 3 mall is at walking distance. All the famous eating joints are close by. Parvati Bagla road is hugging the hotel. Rooms Rooms are very spacious. Very comfortable with basic amenities like tv, fridge, electric kettle, shower and hair dryer. The corner rooms are bigger in size & like a suite. The view is nothing great from any room. Major issues are hot water & wifi. It doesn't work very easily. After 4 nights I still don't know how to get hot water. Service The service in hotel and restaurant is good. Their staff is very sweet and cordial. But certain turn offs are their uniforms and the typical guthka chewing by senior staff. Food The food of salt restaurant and the service of their staff is simply awesome. Very tasty food. Congratulations to the team of chefs and stewards. Drinks are available and are ok. Swimming pool is under open sky and with the construction happening it's literally unusable. Valet Parking staff is good. They do their job well. Room service is very good and they clean the room well. There are times when the party halls are booked and might disturb the night sleep of resident guests.

The staff at reception & breakfast was courteous, but had worst experience of my life with room service. We ordered food at around 10:15 pm in room no 503. The food got delivered at 11:30 with just 1 full plate. We requested room service for 3 more plates, which after around 5-7 calls to room service were given after half an hour. We had to eat cold food. Not good way to treat your guest. Very disappointed.
