From the moment Giovani and his wonderful uncle picked us up from our Sorrento hotel, we knew we were in for something special. They welcomed us with warmth and charm, and transported us to their breathtaking family villa nestled on the highest hill in Sorrento, offering stunning views and an atmosphere full of heart. Upon arrival, we were greeted not only by their gracious hospitality but also by their sweet golden retriever, Guido, who made us feel right at home. Inside the villa, we found an inviting spread of homemade pastries and local wine, lovingly prepared by the incredibly talented owner and the warm-hearted Anna Maria. Our family of eight took part in a cooking class led by the amazing Anna Maria, and it truly felt like stepping into the heart of an Italian home. We made pizza, pasta, chicken, and the most decadent chocolate lava cake – all while laughing, learning, and connecting. Anna Maria immediately made us feel like part of her family, creating an experience that was not only delicious but deeply meaningful. We’ve spent 10 days touring Italy, enjoying everything from luxury yacht charters to private tours and even a viewing with the Pope – and yet, without hesitation, I can say that our time at Villa Pane was the absolute highlight of our trip. We learned to make pasta dough, rich sauces, and a perfectly seasoned chicken that tasted like it came straight out of an Italian grandmother’s kitchen. By the end of the day, we found ourselves calling our gracious host “Zia,” because that’s exactly what she felt like—our Italian aunt, guiding us with warmth and passion through every recipe and technique. Her knowledge was matched only by her heart, and the flavors we created together were hands-down the best food we had in all of Italy. And we can’t forget Guido, the family dog, who might just be the real star of the show. He was charming, full of personality, and completely stole our hearts (and maybe a bit of our lunch when we weren’t looking). This wasn’t just a cooking class—it was a memory we’ll hold forever.
