The rooms were neat and clean and in very good conditions (recently renovated??). We stayed in the bungalow adjacent to the pool and beach, which was perfect. The one detraction was that the floorplan of our one room bungalow was that there is no space inside for a table or seating area. The front room was filled with a single bed instead. There is a table and chairs on the porch for eating outside, which is nice. The staff was very nice and helpful and quick in the bar and restaurant. The location is perfect with a reasonably spacious sandy beach.
The location is amazing: the sea view from Borgo le Rocce is priceless!! Since our arrival the welcome from the people at the reception was friendly and very professional. In general all Cala di Volpe personnel is very kind. Service is very good. The restaurant with the sea view...WOW!!
We had an apartment for a week. The hotel is generally of a relatively good standard. There are some good and some very bad aspects. The food is rated 3, unfortunately the apartment had Insects which was then chemically treated!! There are loads of mosquitoes and no fly screens. This could be remedied with very little financial outlay, but the idea was just laughed at. Most of the service staff in the dining room are friendly, apart from one gentleman who had no manners whatsoever and was constantly reacting in an extremely moody manner! He managed to ruin the meal on one occasion!! The tablecloths were greasy and dirty and were rarely or never changed at dinner or breakfast - this should not be the case in a 4-star hotel!! The fridge or minibar in the apartment contains a variety of drinks and microscopically small snacks which were presented as if they were a little gift from the house and placed on the kitchen sideboard. These snacks weighed five to ten grams in a packet measuring three by three centimeters at most and were brazenly charged at €3.50 each. A large bottle of water in the room cost €4 and, strangely enough, only €2 in the restaurant. What is actually going wrong here? A lot of things seem illogical and disorganized!! As we were ripped off for around €120 for little things, we felt the tip was more than worth it!! The friendly girl at reception tried very hard and unfortunately had to pay the price for it!! A decomposing animal must have died somewhere in the bushes in front of the terrace. There was a wretched, putrid stench and there was no way to get rid of it! The tourist tax added on at around €80, which is absolutely outrageous when you've already paid €2,500! The same goes for the aforementioned 5g-short pastries that were repeatedly foisted on us. A beer costs €6, which is something you've only ever seen in Switzerland. Here, you're severely punished if you're thirsty. On the positive side, the staff are generally friendly, the comfortable loungers with sunscreens, and the pleasant pool. The food wasn't always good, for example, the 5mm-thick roast beef that was completely raw and hard to chew. It was prepared and served incorrectly. The pizza deserves praise, but the seafood not so much; it must have come from the freezer.
