Virgin Hotels Edinburgh

Superb location 1 block off the Royal Mile and 3 from the castle entrance. The hotel is in 4 interconnected India Buildings and the rooms are nicely appointed with a bar, coffee, tea makers and frig. Toilet and shower are in individual rooms off the main entrance and you can slide a door across for more privacy. If staying on a Saturday night recommend a courtyard room as the pubs along the street are full of noisy Scotsmen celebrating. 2 blocks to St Giles and a 9 minute walk to Waverly Station. Food is good but it is directly across the street from Howie’s (excellent food) and a fish and chips place 30m down the road.

This is by far my most favorite pet friendly hotel stay ever. The staff were so friendly and were so kind to help us around right after our long trip on the train from London. They made sure to have us check in early with prosecco and a nearby rooftop terrace that has one of the best views of Edinburgh and where the dogs can walk around. I recommend joining their membership to get happy hour! The dogs were welcomed with treats and so much love and attention with their resident Labrador. Doggie amenities include bowls, blanket, towel, and a bed. The room design was so thoughtful with a sliding door where you could partition the dogs when you had to sleep so that they can’t hear other guests as they pass by or when housekeeping drops by. Amenities are easily done by request on the tv app or by phone. Complimentary room milk, coffee, tea, water and sweet treat! They have everything you could need. The room itself looked amazing and the amenities were perfect. The dogs, my partner and I both appreciated the airconditioning since we stayed during a heatwave! The bed setup was comfortable and we appreciated the little features such as a padded corner to prevent us from hitting the sharp corners of the bed. The pillows and bed covers were comfortable and we both had a relaxing and comfortable sleep. The dog amenities were also wonderful and our dogs absolutely loved it. All of the room switches and airconditioning can be easily controlled by high tech looking switches or all via the TV. The rooftop terrace next to our room had a great view of Edinburgh and my partner and I spent time chilling and relaxing with our dogs there. The location was also convenient for sight seeing around Edinburgh. It is located at Victoria st and a short walking distance from Edinburgh Castle and The Royal Mile, museums and one of the stops on the Hop on Hop Off bus! There are dog friendly cafe and restaurants near the hotel so it was super easy to find food with the dogs. Also Edinburgh is a super dog friendly city. My partner and I were really impressed! My only complaint at this point is that there are few Virgin Hotel locations in the UK.

My wife and I had a great stay in early July! The location , room and happy hour at the hotel were fantastic! The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because late at night there was loud music that made it difficult to sleep. This was not coming from the hotel, but from a club nearby. Otherwise the location is great!!
