I had a great experience starting with check-in. Darnell was a star, his personality and very informative about the hotel and Virgin Brand overall. He made me more excited before I even got to my room, and it was my birthday. I also had a great experience at the 3rd floor bar with a great bartender not sure of his name but made me some great drinks and was very welcoming. My room was comfy and cozy. The view at night time from the 29th floor picturesque! My only slight complaint is the refrigerator does not leave room to put your own stuff. I saw maybe one or two small spaces but had to keep my drinks warm for the most part.
We chose this hotel for its fantastic location, the previous experience, and the impressive gym facilities—and it did not disappoint! Virgin Hotels NYC is just an 8-minute stroll from Penn Station, making it a prime spot for exploring the city. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and excitement! Check-in was a breeze, and all the amenities were clearly listed for our convenience. Our room was spotless, complete with a handy fridge, and the shower was delightfully spacious, with a powerful hot water supply that warmed us up in seconds. The third-floor restaurant and bar area was open and inviting, creating the perfect atmosphere for enjoying a few drinks. We loved soaking in the vibrant ambience, even though the rooftop bar was closed during our visit—next time for sure! The gym and fitness center were impressively designed, though it did feel a bit cozy when more guests arrived. Still, it was fully equipped and ready for a great workout! A standout moment was when we encountered the cleaning staff—she was incredible! I only saw her once, but she worked her magic, leaving our room looking immaculate, as if we’d never been there! I didn’t give a perfect 5-star rating for a couple of reasons: the elevator took a bit of getting used to, and sometimes the wait could feel lengthy. Plus, the rooms aren’t completely soundproof, so you might catch snippets of the coffee machine or conversations from nearby rooms. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and are definitely considering coming back for another memorable experience!
Updated on the below. The $32 American breakfast arrived, had sides I had asked not to have and was totally cold and inedible, having waited for 30 minutes I’m now too late to eat before my first meeting. Thank you Virgin hotels. I’m still here for another night and can’t wait to leave. It’s definitely lost its sparkle from when it first opened. This is my 3rd visit and I’m afraid I’ll go somewhere else next time. Still the lifts are awful but that’s a given since it opened. Now it’s starting to look a bit tired. The blinds in my bedroom were broken, the lights kept flashing on for no reason and the ironing board was broken. The room could also have been cleaner with for example an M&M under the desk Also, whilst the occasional member of staff if great, there is definitely a drop in standards here too. Finally, what 5* restaurant doesn’t have decaf coffee available for breakfast. Not what it was.
