Viva Azteca by Wyndham A Trademark All Inclusive Resort

This was my first time traveling, and I can honestly say it was the best trip I’ve ever been on! If you’re planning to stay in Playa del Carmen, I highly recommend staying here. My fiancé and I were looking for a relaxing getaway, and this place went above and beyond our expectations. The staff were absolutely phenomenal, it felt more like being part of a family than just staying at a resort. They genuinely connected with us, remembered the little details, and encouraged us to take part in the fun activities offered every day. Although we came in the stormy months and seaweed season the staff on the resort did their absolute best to ensure that the beach was still enjoyable. We saw them everyday even in the extreme heat cleaning the seaweed that the storm brought in. The food was absolutely delicious, I’m celiac and they ensured I had options available while also making the food taste amazing to the point where I couldn’t tell the difference. the drinks were amazing, and everything was spotless and clean everyday room service was provided and we were always extremely satisfied. We had such a memorable time and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend! At no point did we feel unsafe or unsure, the staff were incredibly trustworthy and always ready to help with any questions or to point us in the right direction. They made us feel safe and well cared for, without ever pressuring us for tips or extra money.

We are home now and planning next trip back. We cannot say enough positive about this resort. We loved morning walks on the beach and fun afternoons at the pool especially the fun and energetic aqua class with Canadian instructors, Cheryl, Tina and Kate. What a great addition to their already amazing entertainment program. We were there for a wedding and they went above and beyond for our entire group. We will return for sure. Do not hesitate to book here, you will not be disappointed.

This was truly the worst stay of our lives. The food was absolutely disgusting and completely inedible — we had to leave the resort just to find decent meals. The service was HORRIBLE. Do not waste your money here. The pool was tiny, the beach was full of seaweed, and staff constantly requested tips. Service was unhelpful at every turn. One night, I tried to leave the resort and they refused to give me a QR code for my driver — completely ridiculous. No smoking allowed anywhere, horrible drinks, cheap liquor, and the shower smelled disgusting. The rooms are extremely outdated and stink. To make matters worse, security knocked on our door at 4 AM claiming we called the front desk — we absolutely did not. It was unsettling and made us feel unsafe. Special mention to Paula from the excursions desk — by far the rudest staff member. I asked her for assistance and she made me feel completely unwelcome. Her customer service was appalling. Overall, a terrible experience from start to finish. 0/5
