Changsha is in the perfect location for a hotel visit in China, in the far west section of the eastern mainland near mountains, natural national park regions and the big and beautiful business city of Chengdu; the vicinity from Chengdu to Changsha had at least three functional airports and many recreational and convention locations. The W Changsha has luxury options throughout its stay and never quits being a perfect place to be away from home!
As the previous reviewer said, this is a funky night-clubby hotel. From the dimly lit front lobby to the flashing lights in the elevator (gave me vertigo) to the unusual light fixtures in the room. Nevertheless, the service was very good. The room and bedding were fine. Our only issue was the blankets were rather thick for the Summer. The breakfast was excellent -- best in our China trip. The location is superb. Above a metro station. Plenty of restaurants ranging from fast food to gourmet close by.
⭐☆☆☆☆ As a Marriott Platinum member, I expect a high standard of service and efficiency from Marriott properties. Unfortunately, my recent stay at the W Changsha from April 22 to April 25, 2024, was far from satisfactory. Despite staying for three nights, only one night was initially credited to my account. Over the span of nearly two months, I made numerous attempts to resolve this issue through multiple communications with the hotel. The process was extremely time-consuming and frustrating, wasting a significant amount of my time and effort. Eventually, I managed to get in touch with someone who corrected the mistake and added the missing nights to my account. Given the considerable inconvenience caused, I requested additional points as compensation for my lost time. However, this request was declined, which was very disappointing. I am sharing this experience in the hope that it highlights the need for better customer service and more efficient issue resolution at the W Changsha. I sincerely hope that Marriott Group will take steps to prevent such experiences for other guests in the future.
