The service is beyond and above. I am a diamond member. I arrived with my kids, and they offered me a room upgrade without me to ask. The upgraded room is not ready, and they offered me another room for us to wait and rest until our room is ready. Very thoughtful. The staff at the restaurant and the pool are also very attentive. Exceptional service!
I had a truly memorable stay at the Waldorf Astoria Beijing. The location is absolutely fantastic – nestled right in the heart of the city and just a short walk from the historic Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and several other iconic landmarks. It made exploring Beijing effortless and enjoyable. What really stood out, however, was the impeccable service. The team went above and beyond to make my birthday special, surprising me with thoughtful treats that made the occasion feel genuinely celebrated.
Upon arriving at the hotel, the porter kindly took care of the taxi payment as we made our way to reception, a thoughtful gesture, and I promptly reimbursed him for the fare. At check-in, I asked if the hotel could directly charge any extras to my account instead of holding a deposit, as I prefer to settle everything as I go. However, the receptionist insisted on holding a deposit equivalent to three nights and made a comment implying it would be understandable if I couldn’t afford it. This came across as quite rude and condescending, especially considering I had booked a King Suite. At the same time, I was sharing how unpleasant our taxi ride from the airport had been, and rather than offering empathy or assistance, she simply told me I could file a complaint about the driver, an unhelpful and dismissive response. We also expected a brief introduction to the hotel, including information about the amenities, spa, and breakfast, and to be escorted to our suite, standard procedure in most five-star properties, but none of this was provided. That said, the King Suite itself was beautiful, and the rest of the staff we encountered were warm, helpful, and genuinely kind.
