My husband and I stayed a night at this hotel and we had a nice stay. 4/5 because the rooms were clean, but they were dated, especially the bathrooms. We had a ground floor room overlooking the river and the views were nice, but the room didn't have AC and I was afraid to leave the patio door cracked at night because we were on the ground floor and animals/bugs/ people. The staff was great. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and both were good. The location was great. There is a 'parking garage' under the hotel, but it was so small that we couldn't park there. Luckily there is a huge outdoor parking lot right across the street for $6.
This is a nice hotel, a good allrounder with helpful and kind staff. You will feel welcome here from the moment you walk in and it seems that all the staff (we've met) is welcoming and accomodating. From this hotel one can easily explore the Mosel region to Cochem, Bern-kastel, etc. A nice perk is the free public transport that is being offered that stretches from Luxembourg, to Cochem and Trier. We enjoyed the food from both restaurants. There are some smaller things to consider when staying here. We stayed in a modernized room with a very modern 'open' bathroom design that has a sliding door with holes and seethrough panels. This makes for little to no privacy in the bathroom or while sitting on the toilet. If you are not comfortable sharing the sounds and smells of your bodily fluids with your friend or, god forbid, colleague, then I would advise to ask for a room with an actual bathroom door. Matters like this get extra pressing when confronted with a stomach flu. Furthermore on the bathroom design, very little water comes from the main shower head. One is to use to secondary but way stronger shower head to rinse, but there's no adult height holder for this. So you'll end up holding it with one arm above your head. Besides that the wifi signal was sometimes lacking or non existent and parking was no guarantee, we ended up paying for public parking. But I feel these issues should not stand in the way of a satisfactory stay in this hotel, and could also be easily addresses and solved by the management. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and were happy we picked this hotel.
ATTENTION ACHTUNG I wish I could write something regarding the accommodation. But this is about customer service. Here it goes: Booked a 4 night stay on Sunday evening for arrival 3 days later. -My wife got sick Tuesday night. -Called on Wednesday morning to cancel. -Answer in a rude manner 'No, not possible' 'Ok I pay the first night or come another time and pay a possible price difference' 'No, not possible. You have to pay 80% - EIGHTY - of the agreed price' -1 week later a 'Mahnung' arrived with €7,50 surcharge -1 week later mail from a collection agency -now the lawyers are talking You make up your own mind if you want to stay at such a 'customer oriented' place.
