It's just lovely. Kinda a Sound of music vibe. Or the start of Dirty dancing the big girls don't cry part. So. The hotel is quiet and lovely and exudes 1950s dance hall splendour. I love it and will be back very soon. The food is good and the staff are young and cool. The view over the lake is magnificent! And a walk around the lake is absolutely amazing ( not good if you have walking difficulties and it's very steep and lots of steps and more steps. But that's nothing to do with the hotel). Great location to visit Fortfun and the Ramsbeck mine. Rooms are clean and comfortable and quiet too which is lovely. Guy on reception is extremely helpful and kind. I really recommend this hotel. Enjoy 😉
The restaurant staff was very kind and flexible. (especially Alice!) Very friendly for the dogs. We recommend this hotel for families, cyclists and dogs.
We recently stayed at the Welcome Hotel Meschede and had a mixed experience. The hotel is set in a beautiful location with lovely natural surroundings, and we booked a deluxe lake view room. The room was spacious and generally clean, though there was dust under the beds, which is a concern if you have young children who tend to explore. Despite this, the room itself was pleasant. However, there were several issues that we did not expect from a 4-star hotel. Firstly, there was no air conditioning in the room, which made it uncomfortably warm in the evenings, especially when the sun sets and directly hits the room. Surprisingly, there was no fan available either. We were also disappointed by the lack of basic toiletries—only soap was provided, with no shampoo, lotion, or other essentials. Additionally, there was no electric kettle, and the minibar was completely empty. They did provide drinks in the corridor, but it's not convenient for a premium room. We requested room slippers, and although they weren’t initially in the room, the reception provided them when asked, stating they don’t automatically include them for hygiene reasons. While it’s good that they were available upon request, it’s still something we typically expect to be provided upfront in a 4-star hotel. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of options, but the dinner was subpar and overpriced at 30 euros per person. After trying it once, we decided to cancel dinner for the second night. Unfortunately, we were still charged 60 euros for the cancelled meal, as the hotel claimed we had chosen a fixed option that couldn’t be refunded. As compensation, they waived the parking fee (10 euros per day), but this still left us with a difference of 40 euros. Overall, while the location is beautiful and the breakfast was great, the lack of air conditioning, limited amenities, and billing issues left us feeling disappointed. The hotel has potential, but there are several areas where improvements are needed to truly meet 4-star standards.
