Wellé Wadiya

It was our first time in Kalpitiya. Stopped at Welle Wadiya for lunch after a long drive and it was just what we needed. The location was calm and relaxing, the food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly.

Great place, with an even greater staff. I spent there 5 days, the location is directly at the beach, the rooms have ocean views, and the food is amazing. Besides that you always get greeted with a smile. I’ll definitely come back

Overpriced and Misleading Visited this restaurant for lunch on 11th August 2025, and sadly, it turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience. We were a group of five and ordered two seafood fried rice dishes (Rs. 2,535 each) and one beef devilled. The owner was present and seemed friendly at first, but he kept pushing us to order more items like prawns and cuttlefish, even after we politely declined multiple times. It felt uncomfortably forceful. When the fried rice arrived, the portion was shockingly small — it genuinely looked like just one portion, not two. The waiter first confirmed that the second dish was still coming, but later the owner claimed what we were served was actually both portions combined. It didn’t add up. To make things worse, the rice used was basic samba rice, not basmati, which is what you'd expect at this price point. We ended up paying nearly Rs. 10,000 for very little food — Rs. 5,070 plus service charges just for the supposed “two” seafood fried rice portions. The value for money was extremely poor, and the whole experience felt misleading. Basically scammed us by giving 2 stories, the waiter said only one was brought to the table and the other was being made, the owner claimed both portions were served. Ultimately had to pay for both, which we never received. Be cautious if you decide to eat here. Based on our visit, the pricing is not transparent, the portions are small, and we left feeling taken advantage of. Would not recommend.
