We have stayed at the Westgate Cocoa Beach for two years in a row. We love it! The hotel is on the smaller side, which is what I love about it. It might not have the huge amenities that other resorts have, but it has a nice center section with pools, splash pad, and lazy river. Also, this means it's easy to pop back to the room to grab something the kids forgot(which happens about 45 times per day). The location is great. The rooms are clean, they have all the utensils/tools you need to prepare meals and drinks etc. The beds are in good shape. They do a good job keeping everything repaired/in good condition. Plenty of space for a family of 4. They have staff that does 'events', like sno-cones and games for the kids. There was a young woman there who was very nice, though I forget her name. These events were a huge highlight for my kids. Usually they do like 4 things a day, like make sand art, paint tiki face masks, Bingo, etc. The kids went nuts for these things. Also, have to give a shout out to my man Big Ray. He's the shuttle driver and he's an awesome guy and a great driver. He takes you back and forth to the pier, which is a nice way to spend an afternoon/evening. Overall, definitely highly recommend Westgate.
Another great Westgate resort. But, its a little different. It's just smaller. I think we got spoiled with the Orlando resort and all the different pools, lazy river, water slide, wave pool, game room for the kids, and restaurant. Cocoa resort has a pool, a nice kids pool, splash pad and lazy river. Not too bad. And the rooms are a lot smaller and bedrooms are tighter. But, very clean and comfortable. And a lot of restaurants nearby to eat at. Hope to hit the beach this week! And parking around the resort is tight. Haven't had a problem finding a spot so far, but it gets me nervous.
EDIT: I wanted to mention this after seeing they had a lot of negative “safety” reviews. This resort leaves SHARP knives in reach of children in their kitchen drawers!!! IF YOU ARE A PARENT OF A BABY/YOUNG CHILD - CHECK YOUR DRAWERS AND TAKE THE KNIVES OUT OF YOUR CHILD(REN)s reach!! My 12mo old found them in the drawer while checking the kitchen out when we got there. (Thankfully we didn’t let him wander alone & was standing there with him when he found them!!!!!!!!!) They claimed it was for the “convenience” of their guest. & I had to let them know SAFTEY is more important than convenience! These knives are about 14-16 inches from the floor & is accessible to little children . This resort feels more like a hotel. The updated rooms are wonderful! We stayed before they updated this hotel & just stayed again recently & they did a great job renovating the rooms! But, I’m my opinion, the actual hotel doesn’t match their “15 million dollar renovation” they speak about. When I booked our room I seen pictures of the splash pad & when I got there, totally different from the pictures. The splash pad was an easy 10/10 from the websites pictures but when we got there.. I was like “where is the splash pad?? THIS is it?!” Granted, that specific splash pad might be at another Westgate resort. But leave those pictures of the huge tiki head splashpad for the hotel that actually has it. It’s just a BASIC splashpad, nothing special. & it was actually down for our stay (understandable!) So they went on & told us about all the other fun stuff for the kids by the pool- we only got 2 girls stuck on their phones the whole time playing music as a DJ (I’m guessing) & the guy they had walking around was more busy trying to talk to all the adults VS trying to get the kids involved with the activities . Didn’t feel like a kids activity at all. The pool is also very outdated! Looks more like a hotel/motel pool more than anything. Only good thing I can say about the pool is they leave life jackets out for the kids/adults which is a plus! But, The only thing that saves the disappointment of the pool is the lazy river. You Just have to be quick if you want a float for the lazy river as well. They only have about 7-10 floats out on each side & they are grabbed quickly The people at the Front desk were nice. The texting thing they do to be in contact with us for our stay from needing something, a question about your stay, & even check out, is super convenient. Overall- If you go to a hotel to just stay & not worry about anything besides your room, this hotel is nice for the price! BUT, if you book your hotels to take advantage of everything & want to enjoy a resort style hotel, this isn’t it. At all.
