Booked this super large house in order to attend a family wedding in Ilfracombe. The house easily accommodated the members of our family & young children. All aspects of the house were great, from the well proportioned lounges; kitchen, toilet and ancillary lower rooms to the massive six bedrooms, all with en-suites. To supplement the facilities there were a further two massive bathrooms, one on each upper level. Outside the garden was, as stated on three terraced levels giving superb views; with access to the Torrs Coastal Walk being through the rear upper gate. There was adequate parking for our four vehicles. As for the cost, once split between us, it became extremely reasonable. All in all it ticked every box fully. Stay there with confidence.
This is a great Airbnb property and a fantastic place to stay if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle. It’s located right on the coast and the pictures I’ve attached were taken just a 5 min walk away from the house. The house and decor is exactly like the photos shown on other websites for this property. It’s a huge house with plenty of parking available and loads of space. We were 2 families of 9 sharing the house for a week and there was still plenty of space for more. I would highly recommend staying here. The host is nice and checked in with us during the stay. Dogs are allowed. The property markets itself as a 5 star property. Certainly from the advertised pictures that would seem the case, but we found there were a few details which really made it hard for us to give 5 stars. - the location of the property of google maps was wrong. Once we got to the street we went up and down a few times and asked a few people before we found it. There is a sign but we missed it as there was a van parked in the way, and the property shares a driveway with the neighbour, so although the name is engraved on some pillars it’s very hard to spot. We have since corrected the location on google maps soo it should be easy for the next person. - The driveway has space for 3 cars…but the entrance is very narrow and the drive is steep. Your clutch control needs to be really good. We had to leave one of our cars on the road as the drive was too steep for it to get up. - The wifi was solid throughout and a good speed. No complaints there. - The rooms shown in the photos were exactly like the photos. A nice fresh carpet and plush decorations. However, the property also has many more rooms not shown in the photos. These rooms are yet to be renovated and are quite old and dated. But they’re not important rooms…like the utility rooms, and entrance cloakrooms. - this is obviously an old property which has had some renovations over time. A lot of bathrooms have been added to the property making many rooms en suite. However the plumbing cannot cope. For the entire week, nobody was able to have a proper shower. The bathrooms connected to the water tank only produced cool water no matter what time of day we tried to shower. The rooms which has an electric water heater either produced piping hot or freezing cold water. Despite following the instructions provided, in none of the rooms could we get these showers to stay at a constant temperature. Given how rainy and cold it was on the coast, having a nice hot shower after a day out was kinda important to us, and a 5 star property just needs this to work properly. I did check the water tank and it was piping hot so there was hot water there…it just had difficulty making it to the bathrooms. - similar to the plumbing, the electrics have been adapted over time. In one of the new bathrooms, the spot lights start to strobe after a couple of mins. This is soo intense it will surely drive you nuts. There is no natural light in this bathroom so I would use the toilet, brush my teeth with the ambient light from the bedroom. Only when I used the shower did I turn the light on but then keep my eyes closed as long as possible. - these new en suite bathrooms have been recently added. The bedrooms have been made a bit smaller to create space for the en-suites. But they are soo small! There was ample space to make them bigger but they’ve been built soo small that you can’t sit on the toilet without hitting the sink which has been mounted in the way. The shower cubicle is soo small I kept on banging my arms on the walls and doors…you can literally stand up straight in there, but if you try to move, there isn’t space to move your arms! - there is a nice garden at the rear of the property. As the property is on a steep hill, there are a lot of steps in the garden. No idea why these have not been included in any photos, but it’s nice and has a back gate directly onto the coastal path. - the living room is nice and big, but a couple of sofas are old and gave us a bad back. They need replacing.
