Went here with my family for Sunday lunch, was looking forward to it and was ok but nothing i cant do at home. Not much flavour in the mash, beef was chewy , pork fatty and pigs in blankets that cost extra needed to be more crispy. The service wasnt very good, the staff didn't come over to check everything was ok which i found odd and took ages to collect plates ( there was plenty of staff, so no excuse) and in the end my partner had to tell someone. Dogs water jugs weren't filled up and the toilets were not the cleanest. For a hotel i was expecting much better. 😧😔
Great location and nice building. This place has a lot of potential but the food was extremely average sadly. The "whale-sized" fish was anything but and the chicken was dry. Nobody greeted us when we came in but the waitress who served us was friendly. They have a dog there who wanders freely and did a large poo in the courtyard whilst we were there, which wasn't cleaned up and was still there later when we walked past after our walk to the lake!
Had a meal with a couple friends at the weekend. Despite a pretty empty restaurant (on a Saturday night when other establishments were basically full) and numerous wait staff (who spent a decent amount of time just talking) no one greeted us, apart from who I can only assume was one of the owners dogs. We sat at a table which obviously hadnt been wiped down properly as it felt sticky and could see rings where glasses must've been placed before. Following on from the lack of a greeting there was again no interaction from the staff during ordering of the food, just had to go to the counter and sort it out there. When the food came, I ordered the hunters chicken and the chicken was a little on the dry side, probably attempted to mask this with all the sauce and cheese over it. The thick chips that came with it were a little undercooked, the outside of them was nice, but the center still tasted raw and cold. None of the staff ever came round to do a check back and when they cleared the plates they never asked if everything was ok with the food, I'm guessing the must be used to the low quality food and dont need reminding of it. The gents toilets were in a bad state, a few puddles of water around the walls and cubicles with locks that were busted off. I cant comment on what the ladies were like but I'd imagine they wouldnt have been much better. We decided to not stay for dessert, partly due to the underwhelming main course, mainly due to seeing aforementioned owners dog doing a poo next to the tables out the front of the pub. Its a shame as its a nice location but clearly the owners aren't trying.
