Took my daughter her for their alternative afternoon tea as she saw it online and wanted to go. Did not disappoint! The welcome was warm and personal, the staff were extremely friendly, personable and added greatly to the experience. The food was even better than expected, a very welcome twist to the generic bog standard of afternoon teas. Really has to be experienced to understand the difference. Enjoyed it so much I will be returning even if it's not for a special occasion! They also will be doing a Christmas themed afternoon tea at the appropriate time too. Sounds intriguing!
WOW!! Stayed for 2 nights. Booked last minute due to being messed around with other accommodation. The staff were so welcoming. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and the room was stunning. Every need was catered for. It was our puppy's first little holiday and even his needs were catered for with a bed, bowl, doggy bag with a toy and treats in. It was a lovely touch. We had the breakfast which was delicious. The weather was hot and our puppy struggled but again the staff were so helpful supplying a fans and ice. A member of staff called Kirsten went out of her way to make Sox (our puppy) feel right at home, which was a lovely thing to do.The grounds and trails are ideal for walks with the dog. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely stay
We stayed for the for the weekend to celebrate my partners birthday. We usually stay at Low Wood Bay but thought we’d give this a try. The hotel itself is full of character, with its low ceilings, twists and turns and rich history! We were happy to receive a free bottle Prosecco in the room however it was warm and very cheap - not drinkable, and on top of that not even anywhere to set down the glasses! The room was smaller and less equipped / lower spec than we’re used to, the bathroom being extremely small also meant there were very few places to put things other than the floor! The shower was great though! Friday nights meal in the Grill & Smokehouse was a disappointing quality and we both left our steaks unfinished. The service was fabulous though and this needs highlighting. Breakfast however was an all round great experience with plenty of choice from both the buffet and the hot menu. We very much enjoyed the start of the day. The bar is cosy and warm in the evening, maybe would be a little more relaxing with softer lighting, it was very bright! All in all a nice place to stay but it’s pitched as a 5 star which it definitely isn’t. We liked its location but would be unlikely to return as we prefer a more luxurious room.
