Windlestraw

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Windlestraw House in Walkerburn while visiting an old college friend, and it was truly one of the most memorable experiences we’ve had traveling. This old and beautiful house felt like something out of a storybook. Windlestraw has a warm, family feel to it – welcoming and comfortable. The house is full of character, with unique details and a quirks that blends vacation with a sense of home. The surrounding property is expansive, with plenty of space to walk, explore, and just admire the grazing sheep and horses all over town. There are also tons of biking trails if you enjoy maintain biking! One of our favorite moments was walking by the Tweed river, where we were lucky enough to see salmon swimming upstream. The hosts were extremely accommodating and attentive especially when my husband caught a stomach bug and they provided all the remedies and even drove me into town for food for him. I strongly recommend walking thru the hills to get to Caberston Farm Coffee Shop! It was a quiet little cafe with great coffee and sandwiches. Highly recommended for anyone looking to slow down, soak up nature, and stay somewhere truly special. It is also family friendly and we are already looking forward to visiting again with our three boys
