This review is for both the Wingate and Hawthorn as we stayed at both which they are both by Wyndham. After an awful experience at another hotel chain across town late at night, we gave this hotel a chance and gosh they don't disappoint by their excellent service. The front desk at both places worked together to meet our needs and beyond. The rooms were quite nice even though the Wingate was updated more recently. The Hawthorn was a bit on the older side but still nice and clean. The breakfast was good. There was some good choices available. It would be nice to have some trays available to assist bringing it to the room and hot cup sleeves. The courtyard is very nice with a put put course, chess board, a hot tub, and a pool. Thanks to the staff again, it was a great experience.
3.5 stars overall. Most notable - Service was great. We only stayed one night but both people at the front desk I interacted with were very kind and helpful. All the housekeeping staff I passed in the hall over the course of our stay gave me an enthusiastic hello. The pool/courtyard area was also nice and the fence around it is high so you can't see in/out of the area, which I greatly appreciated. We stayed in a king suite and it was large and roomy. Also, not sure if we just didn't have neighbors, they were quiet, or the walls are actually thick enough to block sound, but we heard nothing from anyone else once in our room. We were on the 3rd floor and it has been recently renovated. Unfortunately, they are still in the middle of renovations, which I did not see anything about when booking. We did not have any construction noise during our stay though, thankfully, but there is a lot of unfinished work around the building, including broken sidewalk areas, and some equipment blocking some of the parking. The first floor and elevator are unfinished (elevator works fine but just looks a little sketchy), but once that's all finished it should be a good upgrade for the feel of the hotel. The neighboring hotel is owned by the same company and you're sharing a pool with them, so it's a little small for two hotels, but you also get to go over to the other hotel for hot breakfast (continental only at this hotel), so that's nice, but the food is absolutely nothing to get excited over. It was pretty bland. Only other thing to note is the area isn't great. I've lived in ATL before so homeless individuals do not bother me, but there was some questionable activity going on around the area. No one bothered us though, just keep an eye around you outside. Location was very convenient though. But this was a necessity stay for us. We wouldn't have stayed here for "fun". Overall, this hotel seems to be putting in some effort, but in the end it's still a 2 star hotel so you get what you pay for.
Rooms were very nice and clean and bed was very comfortable. When we came in Dani was very welcoming to us and addressed our needs quickly. She brought us an extra blanket and a new bath mat for the shower.Housekeeping department noticed we had our arms full and was quick to let us in our room. There was not a big selection at the breakfast meal though as we had stayed at Laquinta and had a super nice breakfast. Elevator was not working at the time so had to go to laundromat for washing clothes. The courtyard was nice but could use some upgrades in the patio furniture. Otherwise staff was very friendly and the room was comfortable. The shower could stand a few grab bars installed. Thank you so much Dani for being so friendly and hospitable. We would come back here in the future. Kind regards, Kenneth Lively Bonnie Lively
