Super 4 nights The rooms were spotlessly clean, location was super, only 4 minutes drive to Galway city centre. Breakfast was always good. A very warm welcome by the host, and her husband Liam also attended to a minor car problem we had. What a lovely couple...

My wife ( both 64 at the time of our over night and experienced travellers ) and I stayed at Woodhaven Manor Guest House ( 2 nights ) in September 2024. It was Excellent. Easy to find ( we were travelling by Bus from Derry ) we were able to hop off that bus nearby ( without having to travel into Galway ). Attractive, excellent, clean accommodation. Lovely room, comfortable bed, bathroom etc. Just sufficient space for two large suitcases. Hosts: Excellent, friendly, helpful, Professional. Location: Good location, approximately 5 to 7 minute drive or bus into Galway, we choose to walk, took apprx 30 or 40 minutes. Easy, interesting walk. We would definitely stay again, have no hesitation in recommending, hope to in the future. Galway is a fabulous town. Brendan & Joyce Keating, Buninyong, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.

Review of Woodhaven Manor Our stay at Woodhaven Manor was, to put it lightly, a deeply uncomfortable and unsettling experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt less like a B&B and more like a prison camp where laughter, fun, and basic human decency were strictly prohibited. At 7:30 pm, we were approached with an unfounded noise complaint, during which the owner blatantly asked if we were drinking alcohol, stating in a threatening manner, “You’re a lovely girl, but I’m serious. Absolutely no drinking.” This interaction felt entirely out of place, as we were simply chatting amongst friends and abiding by the posted quiet hours, which were from 10 pm to 8 am. Despite this, we were warned multiple times with phrases like, “No parties when you come back,” even though we left for the city centre at 8:15 pm. The following morning, the owner’s behaviour escalated. He was excessively pushy about inspecting the rooms, demanding entry well before check-out time. When we explained that some of our group were still getting dressed, he left but returned several minutes later, insistently trying to enter the room. This persistence felt highly invasive and intimidating. When we were approached again that morning, we were accused of being noisy between 3:30 am and 5:30 am. This accusation was entirely false, as we were exceptionally mindful of other guests, whispering upon our return to avoid disturbing anyone. When we refuted his claims, he responded with, “The cameras never lie.” This frequent reference to surveillance became increasingly uncomfortable, and the lack of prior notification about the cameras—both in the hallways and a ring doorbell—violates GDPR regulations, particularly Article 6. The whole situation felt eerily like an episode of Big Brother, leaving us feeling watched and judged at every moment. The owner continued to describe us as “disgraceful” and argued with one of our guests who was deeply upset by the constant policing of our behaviour. At one point, we resorted to texting in our group chat to avoid speaking aloud, as even light conversation seemed to upset him. The B&B should come with a disclaimer: SMILE-FREE ZONE – NO LAUGHTER, NO FUN, NO PLAY. The property itself left much to be desired. The mugs were filthy, showers had no ventilation, and the water was freezing. Despite these issues, the owner inspected our rooms as if he were Inspector Gadget, despite the fact they were left absolutely immaculate. To our astonishment, no bins were provided, and the rooms were so cramped that you couldn’t swing a cat in them. Overall, the experience was unsettling, unwelcoming, and overly invasive. As working professionals who are respectful, mindful, and considerate of others, we were treated in a manner that was entirely unjustified. For anyone considering staying here, be prepared to sacrifice your comfort, privacy, and right to enjoy yourself. One star for the bed being marginally comfortable—though it was jammed so tightly against the wall that it barely felt usable. Would not recommend.
