Wu Wei

Wu Wei translates "effort-less action" or "non-doing"; I rather felt the "non-doing" than "effortless" part during our stay... It could have been a nice experience, despite the lack of airconditioning in the rooms, despite the not-so-clean pool, the bath towels falling apart & the somewhat cheapskate time-limitation in the wellness area (but transparently announced from the start, so fair enough). Especially if you order using Bongo (139 € in our case), even more so on a weekend, be sure to read the small characters, as the all-in impression rapidly turns into an "all-charged-on-top" story. The 25 € for a WE booking, 10 € for the parking lot, x € pp for the spa slippers, 7 € pp for the flemish breakfast (in normal setting you'll get a coffee, chocolate pastry & croissant, and if you didn't pay attention you can't actually upgrade on the spot) all made it look like a salami-tactic, to let you swallow the cost pill in multiple layers. For this level of standing (4-stars announced) I'd hope for a clear all-in approach, where you feel cherisched & welcomed. I'd prefer a clear "50 € on top of your bongo" cost announced upfront, rather than having this repetitive "that's on top" discussion. Also, when coming back from our 1h morning-spa session, we found our room open, although we had locked it when leaving. Probably a mistake of the cleaning lady, nothing was gone, but felt awkward and could have been nasty. On the upside, we were able to book last-minute, the female receptionist was kind & thoughtful upon reception, the bathrobes included and the location with easy access to the city (by bike or car) & train station.

Booked as birthday gift for my girlfriend. She had a good massage :-) however the room was clearly not cleaned for a long time (see pictures). We showed these at breakfast. Response was ‘yes it was cleaned’ …

I did not actually stay at the hotel - I ended up cancelling my reservation due to unfriendly service. After booking a stay with a bongo-bon for which I already had to pay a surplus, I suddenly get an unexpected email telling me another payment of 25€ was due, which was never mentioned before. There was no understanding nor sympathy from the hotel staff about this so naturally I cancelled my booking.
