It was good enough for one overnight stay, but I wouldn't stay here for longer. The room was clean and tidy, although the furniture was very outdated. The bed was comfortable. The hotel dates from the 1970s, and it still looks like it. A large part of the hotel has apparently been empty since 2006, including the former thermal spa and swimming pool. The buffet-style dinner was disappointing; it looked like a soup kitchen in a barracks with a few trays of reheated food. It was cheap, but not very good. If we had known this, we would have eaten somewhere else. On a positive note, the staff were all very friendly.

Travelers Beware… We stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of a group of 60 adults and children from the U.S., during the midst of a record-breaking heatwave. The hotel had no air conditioning. While this isn’t necessarily unusual for a German hotel, the rooms were stifling (easily over 80°F) even at night with the windows open. Fans were available at the reception desk, but supplies were limited and most guests were left without any relief. Several members of our group reported non-functioning showers, electrical issues, and other maintenance problems. We were informed the bar was closed for renovation and would reopen the next day. However, when we returned, we were abruptly told, “The bar is closed,” with no further explanation or courtesy. Although we understand there may be a language barrier, and that German communication styles can be more direct, the overall attitude of the staff was disappointingly hostile. Many were passive-aggressive, visibly irritated by basic questions, and behaved as if every request was an imposition. Unfortunately, tone, body language, and facial expression communicate plenty, no translation needed. As someone who has traveled extensively and stayed in a wide range of accommodations, from luxury hotels to budget lodgings—this was, without a doubt, one of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve encountered. There was a clear and disheartening difference in how independent guests were treated compared to those of us in the tour group. I don’t normally leave negative reviews, but in this case, the experience was egregious enough to warrant it. Our group wasn’t simply inconvenienced, we were mistreated. Additional incidents worth noting: • We were blatantly ignored by the waitstaff when trying to order drinks, despite being told to order directly from them since the bar was closed. Other guests were consistently prioritized over us. • At dinner, our group was told to sit only at tables designated for us. However, a solo traveler unaffiliated with our group was seated at one of these tables, displacing four of our members. When a 16-year-old boy from our group sat at a nearby table with his dinner, the service manager rudely ordered him to move, with no care for where he should go. Several others were similarly forced to relocate. There was no explanation, and no one else waiting for tables. Only our group was targeted with this treatment. • Our packed breakfast boxes, meant to be ready for our early departure, were not prepared on time. When they were hastily thrown together, each box contained only a juice box and a sad, dry piece of bread with a single slice of cheese. (Image attached.) Wyndham, I strongly urge you to reevaluate the staff and management practices at this property. At minimum, guests deserve to be treated with basic respect and professionalism.

When I close the window, I feel suffocated because it is so hot there is no air conditioning inside. But this time, since the window is open, the curtains do not close and I cannot sleep because it is so bright. I have a very simple expectation from a hotel: to make the room dark and airy at all hours so that we can sleep and rest. Unfortunately I’m working that’s why I’m coming here, but I’ve never be able to sleep this hotel. All rooms have the same issue.
