PROS - The Guest Services team is very quick to reply via the Marriott Bonvoy chat, quicker than any other hotel I’ve experienced. - Large swimming pool and gym. - Extensive buffet breakfast with very friendly staff. So there’s no language barrier, you can swipe your room key at the restaurant to “check in”. Brilliant idea. - Reasonable prices for in room dining and restaurants. - As I do not speak Chinese, I appreciated that everyone with whom i interacted spoke very good English. - Decent WiFi and best of all, with VPN. CONS - There are 4 elevators for 40 floors. Expect to wait. - My minibar fridge was not working. - The club lounge has minimal offerings, though the staff are very kind. - Personal preference: I liked the location of Sheraton better as there isn’t much by way of shopping near Westin, apart from a large RT Mart (mega mart) and some restaurants.

An imposing modern hotel of glass and steel in the centre of Xiamen's Wuyi (May 1st) Square, and next to various city museums and sports centre. The building to our eyes was shaped like a sitting eagle. The hotel had a grand lobby but felt a little dated, and some facilities and services fell below the supposedly 5-star status. For example, there was no porter to help with luggage or to order a taxi, and all the hotel restaurants were closed during the day. The lobby lounge only served drinks and a limited choice of cakes. So if you wanted to grab something to eat on arrival, tough, only room service. The club lounge on the 40th floor only opened in the evenings and had limited choices of food and of average in quaity. Breakfasts served at Seasonal Tastes restaurant were great, and the restaurant was very spacious. Service in general was ok, but indifferent.

The location is good, hotel staffs are nice, the service is good, just the breakfast does not have lots of options. However, the service at lobby lounge is slow. The staffs in the lounge are not mindful but forget the order.
