Excellent hotel, even by Shangri-la standards, with very helpful and friendly staff. Our two visits have always seen it fairly full, but it never felt crowded except at breakfast. Still not too full. Next time I'll try the Horizon club lounge. I do concede it is not as high performing as some in bigger [fancier] cities, so there are a few aspects that could be improved. If you're foreign the staff are still friendly, but consciously or not the service will improve if you speak even a small amount of Mandarin. ("Please can you....", "what is this?", "Please help with this.")

Great view from the room! Stayed here for 2 nights in December 2025. For the price you are paying for a 5-star hotel - it is worth it to stay here - especially for the view from the room. Property in general was nice, well-kept, both inside and outside. The rooms are quite run downed to be honest and didn't feel the most clean rooms. The couch felt really icky. Good size on the rooms and comfy big bed! Food in the restaurant (dinner) was really good. Quite a lot of selection of dishes, which we loved.

This is one of the 5-star hotels in the heart of Guilin. Despite being 15 years old, the hotel maintains an impressive and grand appearance both inside and out. Its location is ideal—conveniently close to Elephant Trunk Hill and other attractions. However, the rooms do feel a bit dated and lack USB outlets, which is inconvenient for modern travelers. That said, the rooms are spacious and offer plenty of comfort. I opted for the breakfast-inclusive package, and the breakfast buffet was a highlight—offering a wide variety of options with excellent food quality. The staff were friendly and attentive, truly reflecting the high standards of a luxury hotel. During peak dining hours, it can get quite busy, making it hard to find a seat. For groups of two or more, I’d suggest securing a table first and leaving someone there to hold it, otherwise you might return with your food to find a stranger sitting with you! Overall, a solid choice for a comfortable stay in Guilin.
