This hotel is rated 5 stars but its really a 3.5 to 4 star, mainly because it's an older hotel. The ok: In general the hotel needs a refresh but I would say the conditions are acceptable for a 3.5 star hotel. I like using hotel gyms, and this one definitely needed all new equipment. The good: The spa world is very expansive with every type of spa you can imagine as well as a kids area, slide, multiple pools, hot, cold plunge, massaging, etc. You can easily spent 2-3 hours here and its worth coming just for this part. Overall, the hotel is old, damp, and seems moldy. The service was good, and the food was the redeeming quality, but I wouldn't stay here again. Facilities: As soon as you walk in, you can smell and see the mold all over the carpets, walls, etc. Our bathroom had a very strong odor of sulfur. It's very evident that the hotel is at least 30 years old and lacking much needed maintenance. The indoor pools felt unclean to go into due to the visible grime. Service: They were kind enough to send a shuttle to pick us up from the train station and take us back. Restaurant and lobby staff was friendly. The pool staff was very strict about adults walking through the pool in regular clothing and reprimanded us, which doesn't make sense at all. Food: We were quite surprised and the food was very delicious. The seafood pasta with pesto, squid ink pasta, beef noodle soup, Taiwanese chicken, and dessert were all tasty.
You can definitely tell the hotel was dated, the hotel and the rooms smells musty but they do provide a dehumidifier inside the room and also have one on the hallway. If you booked the Japanese onsen room like we did then need to note that there isn’t anyone to assist you on building #2 and everything needs to be self service. They do offer various temperature of natural hot spring soaks both outdoor and indoor. If you’re just into hot springs I would recommend this place but if you’re looking for value I would look for somewhere else.
