Ye Olde Red Lion

Ye Olde Red Lion in Chieveley is a proper traditional pub with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the service is always spot on. The food is hearty and delicious — perfect for a relaxed meal out. Whether you’re stopping by for a Sunday roast, a pint by the fire, or a meal with friends, it’s a great spot to unwind. The garden area is also lovely on a sunny day. A real local gem that’s definitely worth a visit!

Been coming Newbury Retrofestival for 5 years and decided this time our first night would eat out. Found this place through Google and pleased we did. It is a 15 minute walk from Showground and is just off the motorway to Oxford, London and Winchester, Southampton. This is situated in a lovely little place called Chievely. Soon we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Staff helpful. Plenty of seating inside and outside. They have rooms but didn't stay. All reasonably priced. The food was absolutely delicious and hot. I had the Red Thai Chicken Curry was really good. And my partner had the Marmite Sausages with mash and said it was lovely. People next to us also said their food was lovely as well. The landlord and staff so lovely and chatty. The chefs certainly know how to cook. No faults here and would definitely recommend and will be going again..

Lovely pub for a large family get together. Food was generous and well presented and delicious. Recommend the roast beef! Staff very attentive snd welcoming so nsny thanks to all. Definitely recommend
