Yha Napier

This is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for somewhere cheap and vintage in styling. It’s not flash but it’s very homely, friendly and immaculately clean. Don’t be put off by the old world building, this place has some amazing history and survived the Napier earthquake which was before my lifetime. I’m really enjoying my stay.

The experience depends on the kind of room you get. We got a double room with a seaview. It was amazing. Full of light, fresh air in the morning. Very comfortable and simply amazing. Our travel companion got a tiny room out in the back with zero views and a bit dusty. So just make sure you get the right room when you book this place. Facilities are adequate, the location couldn't be better. We generally had a great time, but i think you should try to get one of the rooms facing the ocean, if possible.

Really good hostel along Marine parade - central location and across the street from a great ice cream shop! Lovely lady running the hostel - incredibly warm and friendly. I'm a solo female traveller and felt good and safe here. I took a single room w shared bathroom - bed and pillow are comfortable. Clean big towel provided. Downside was being located next to the outdoor communal smoking courtyard which was a bit chatty at night (needed my window open for ventilation and as result bit louder). If you're a light sleeper - take a room away from the main road and courtyard. Bathroom is fine enough - clean and spacious. Building is a bit dated but this adds to the charm.
