Yusense Hotel

We stayed at Yusense Hotel for four nights. The hotel is on the smaller side with less than 15 rooms per floor, so it was quite quiet and peaceful, while being a short few bus stops to Shilin and the metro. The decor also all feels well curated and personalized, with hardwood furniture, unique artworks, and a cozy sitting area on each floor. I quite liked the earthy color palette. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful; they were even willing to give us an umbrella for free as it was raining rather hard while we were checking out.

I’ve had a better experience here than Regent and Grand Hyatt in Taipei. Most exceptional is the staff and the service. I had a stomachache and can only eat very limited kinds of food. During breakfast I asked if I can just have white rice congee and steamed vegetables, and our waitress kindly agreed to make these off-menu items and even made some helpful suggestions (change the type of vegetables so it tastes better when steamed; whether I’d like soy sauce, etc.). I can’t overstate how much I appreciate her and the kitchen staff for going above and beyond to help. More importantly, she seems to genuinely care and the kindness shines through our interaction. Yes the hotel doesn’t have a lobby full of luxury brands like Regent or a fountain like Grand Hyatt, but the room, the view, the service and the staff are above and beyond those more recognizable brands. And those are what’s essential for my trip. If you’re planning to visit the National Palace, I highly recommend this place. Love my stay here. The staff are friendly, professional, and efficient. The room is quiet and comfortable. I also much prefer the made-to-order breakfast rather than buffet style. Laundry room was a big plus, as I was at the tail end of my month-long holiday. Location is awesome: peaceful, but only 10mins bus ride away from the bustling Shilin station if that's more your scene. Easy walk to National Palace museum, lots of little parks around, and can see some local residences too. I love Boulevard cafe in the next block, and the convenience store across the street is small but well stocked. Lots of buses to take you to Shilin station in
