Zee's Garden

What a stunning garden to have lunch and a guided walk. Gunte, from Germany lives nearby and was our guide in fluent English. We had a huge,delightful lunch while he told us detailed stories of his life here and of every type of spice and medicinal herb that they have in the garden around us. This is a must in your cultural tour.

We visited the garden and was warmly welcomed by our host Guenter who showed us an amazing insight into a beautiful and tranquil setting amongst the herbs fruits and spices grown there. Our journey began with a train ride from Colombo to Kandy. The scenery was amazing. The ride was 2 1/2 hours. From there we took an intercity a/c couch to Matale and a Tuk Tuk up to the farm. A piece of Heaven on earth. This place is surrounded by mountains and trees of different types. The farm has two bedrooms facing the mountain the rooms are large and comfortable. King size beds and all the amenities one needs. One wakes up in the morning to the sounds of the birds chirping. The sunrise is a sight yo see. Wake up early to experience this. The lush greenery and cool climate is a relaxing and nice getaway. The evenings bring in the hues of twilight and the sounds of the mountains brings one close to nature. And the only sounds you hear are frogs croaking and crickets creaking. One finds trees such as nutmeg, cinnamon, green peppercorns, coffee, cocoa, avocado, mango, papaya and more all within reach. Vanilla bean vines grow along the walkway. This is truly a paradise waiting for you to explore.
