Extremely Unsafe for Families — We Had to Escape at Midnight After Our 2-Year-Old Got Locked in a Bathroom This hotel was a terrifying experience for our family, and I urge anyone traveling with young children—or anyone expecting basic safety and cleanliness—to stay away. We arrived expecting a family-friendly apartment hotel. What we found was a run-down, dirty property with serious safety hazards, misleading photos, and zero accountability from management. First, the room we were given didn’t have the king bed we reserved. The second room had: • A visibly dirty bathtub • Carpet lumps from poor installation or water damage (raising mold concerns) • A/C that didn’t work • And worst of all: dangerously inappropriate door locks throughout the suite These were not standard interior locks—they were deadbolt-style cylinder locks, the kind used on front doors. Our 2-year-old accidentally locked herself in the bathroom, and it was impossible to open the door from the outside. There was no safety override, and the lock required a precise two-turn pattern even adults found confusing. The hotel staff did not have a key. They said the maintenance person might have one, but he was unreachable and didn’t answer calls. We waited 20–30 excruciating minutes while our daughter panicked behind the door, unable to unlock it again. We came very close to calling the fire department, which in hindsight would likely have been the safer option. But with no clear way forward and our child screaming, my husband made the split-second decision to crawl along a narrow two-story ledge from one open window to another in order to rescue her. Had we been unable to do this, we would have had to force the door down—which would have been extremely dangerous, as we couldn’t ensure our toddler would stay clear of it. Hotel staff admitted they were shocked to find such locks on the interior doors—but confirmed they were installed throughout the entire suite. Their “solution”? That we continue staying in the room for a few days until a locksmith could be brought in to remove the locks. Unbelievable. By 11:30pm, we packed our things and took a cab to another hotel (20 minutes away), which was quiet, clean, and almost empty—we highly recommend “Best of Both” instead. While in the lobby, we also witnessed two other parties complain about serious issues and receive no meaningful support. The hotel photos online did not match what we found in person. The property felt cheap, neglected, and unhygienic, with stained carpets and poor maintenance throughout. We reached out to management to request a refund and explain the ordeal. We received no response. No apology. No refund. Bottom line: This hotel is dangerous for small children, grossly misrepresented, and managed without accountability. Families should avoid this property at all costs.
Bathroom was not cleaned after the last person stayed here. Hair on the shower wall, hair around the sink, etc. Told the front desk and they said they would try to send someone the next day, so now I will have to take take 2 showers in a dirty bathroom. They refused any kind of refund or room change. If you are here for anything at Palexpo / UN, the border security and the terrible service of this hotel simply isn't worth it. Pay the €20 more per night for somewhere closer
Didn’t get to stay at this hotel and not surprised about the review by other guest. This hotel and staffs lack compassion and empathy. Their staffs are not well trained and lack professionalism. They collected my money without visiting the hotel. Asked for cancellation or adjustment, they refused and just acting strange and weird. Please do not book this hotel if you are smart . They are very cunning and rude people. A very terrible experience. If you book this hotel, it’s at your own risk. They lack standards and their staffs are the most useless and incompetent I ever encountered. Please do not book this hotel. I believe if it was located in the UK, it would have been shut down, I do not understand their regulatory standard in France, seem they lack standards.
