Zámek Lužec Spa & Wellness Resort

We stayed at Zamek Lužec for 4 nights at the start of January (family vacation) and enjoyed our stay a lot. The castle is great with its medieval interior. The location is perfect to reach Karlovy Vary and ski resorts. Also, a lot of other options can be found near to explore nature. The food was above our expectations. The spa and pool area was very warm so we enjoyed the relaxation a lot. Staff was friendly and welcoming.

The hotel building and area were very beautiful. Although location was very remote, with no easy access to a restaurant or anything like this. We enjoyed the spa access, despite spa area being quite small, we were lucky with small amount of visitors at the same time as us. Biggest disappointment was the food, dinner selections at the buffet was very poor, dry meat, cold French fries, boiled potatoes with black spots. Only salad bar provided decent options. Breakfast was slightly better but with very limited options. Overall we found food too expensive for what it was, making the whole stay not really worth the amount we paid.

More a 3 star at best - the hotel looks grand and the spa has all the amenities but it’s hardly a 4 star experience. Long check in times, expect to share tables at meals rather than have a private one, showers are sometimes cold we had to go without one day as it was cold all evening, the spa is not the cleanest with used plasters and tape left on the floor, towels aren’t replaced if left on the floor, we had the same spa towels for 4 days. The food is basic, the rooms are sparse and don’t include the usual toiletries you’d expect from even a 3* hotel, no iron, kettle or coffee making facilities. They don’t even provide slippers in a spa hotel!!! The food situation is particularly sorry as you arrive, then have to wait for a table and eat whilst the previous occupants plates are cleared which isn’t very hygienic. The spas too busy or there’s children jumping in or throwing balls around, so it’s not exactly relaxing. Looks more like an instagram influencers destination so people can take selfies.
