This hotel is very isolated and there isn't much to do around. While the grounds are very nice, you quickly and exhaust what there is to see and do in very little time. The hotel used to be an aristocrat's palace and the recent renovation brought it to the level of a posh hotel. Everything was impecable and it was pleasure to be there. Breakfast was phenomenal, although not many hot breakfast options. The highlight is the view from the main room in the second floor.
I really enjoyed morning walks in the grounds of the property shrouded in mist. There were pear trees, apple trees, kiwi vines, grapes beyond the ponds and manicured gardens. We also saw cows beyond the property and a hen next to the apple trees. I commend the hotel on caring for the grounds and kids really enjoy exploring around. Quality of the room was ok furnishing fairly basic, towels were great thick and fluffy, some of the lighting spot lights should be improved as they are too high wattage too bright look cheap and detract from the ambience. In general hotel appear under staffed for weekend crowd, and quality and friendliness of service staff varies - being one of the top hotels in the region perhaps more training would be nice. Restaurant we found the food quality solid, only one server dealing w the weekend dinner crowd which I’m sure stressful and affects service. Cleaning wasn’t too impressed seems they quickly clean the room and do the bare minimum - our room was turned around very quickly when we left the room for a short time, there were candy wrappers from a previous stay in a container on the coffee table during our stay, hand soap as well as cleaning products in the shower had ran out and no one checked to refill, maybe there should be a checklist for the cleaning staff. Would return here given the lovely property, but won’t book the higher end room at the property.
A pleasant stay. My feedback would be that this is a 3* hotel and definitely not a 4*. The spa is not included, which it should be, considering the hotel has very few amenities otherwise (no gym, no indoor pool, no bar really, a very very simple outdoor pool). The staff are very friendly however it’s very poor that upon arrival there is noone waiting at reception… you have to call a number in order to request that they come…The feeling is that this hotel is very understaffed.
