I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. Very Arabian nights decor, with gorgeous comfy bedrooms. The location was ideal in the old town, next to the mosque and bazaar, I felt very safe. Everything was perfect, and all the staff were so friendly and helpful, especially the manager who had a very good command of English. Mr Enver went above and beyond to help us navigate the city, and make our stay comfortable, for which we will forever be grateful. Plus points for catering for vegetarians in their restaurant, with really tasty food. Highly recommended!
The main selling point is the location, most major tourist spots are very close and within walking distance. Nice spacious room, kind of an old Ottoman theme going on. Could do with an update but it's nice. Staff were friendly. Breakfast is what you'd expect from a Turkish breakfast and quite good, few different types of eggs, soup, sucuk, veg, grilled veg, honeys/mollases etc, chips, cheeses, bread, coffee machine where you can select whichever coffee you want, juices, fruit. The reason I gave this place 3 stars is because of the awful smell of smoke from cigarettes that came into our room every night(even though there's a huge no smoking sign at the front desk). It's like the night staff allow people to smoke inside at night (or smoke themselves?). In the morning and throughout the day I didn't find this problem. If you are sensitive to smoke and want a decent nights sleep then maybe this isn't the place for you.
This is in no way a 5-Star hotel. It is outdated, in need of major renovations and a modernisation. But the biggest problem is that the room door and the walls are paper thin, you hear everything from the hallway, the other rooms, and outside; this is an issue pre-dawn because the thousands of birds in the park make a lot of noise and that one of the mosques in the park broadcasts the morning prayer service (not just the call to prayer) on the loudspeakers. The main benefit of the hotel is location, near historic landmarks, a lovely park, and the old bazaar. But the old bazaar area is quite dirty and rundown. The food in the restaurant was ok at best. The staff was however very nice and helpful.
