Stayed here for a week total. Except for day 1 check in, staffs are mostly nice and do try to help. Room wasn’t ready by 4pm, which is disappointing. But the rooms are clean and well maintained, designs are nice. Bed and pillows are great. No amenities provided here, plain water is sold at $9 usd for small room, but bigger rooms selling them at $10? This is not nice. I did not enjoy the location, not sure if this is mostly how US feels, but street was extremely noisy in the middle of the night. People yelling on the street, blasting their speakers and constant ambulance sirens through the night. Maybe some soundproofing should be considered. So many homeless and drug addicts which makes it depressing to get out on the street. It’s not the hotel’s fault though, just affected our stay.
Nice hotel and a good location for walking. My room wasn’t ready until long past 4 PM, and I saw that that was others’ experience as well. How strange. The room was difficult. No dresser. No desk. Tiny bedside tables so things kept falling on the floor. Great big room but very poorly imagined. No luggage stand. The closet was tight and not very usable. All the furniture is very low so I wasn’t able to find a comfortable place to open my suitcase. I finally cleared off the massive for-purchase fridge/bar and perched it there. Lots of wasted space. I appreciate imaginative use of an older building, but the designers really fell short. No drinking water and I had to ask for a water pitcher. They brought me a tea kettle, but that worked fine at the water stations. The bed is comfortable and the room was dark. So that was nice. But I could not figure out the complicated digital thermostat. Fortunately I could just turn the whole thing off as the weather was quite pleasant. Expected better for the price.
This place had some good, and lots of bad. Truthfully, I regret staying here for the 8 days we did. The first day we were here, I questioned if I should just jet and find another option. Starting with good: The location was perfect for getting any where you wanted. The ease of catching the bus, the rail, the street car, and the monorail couldn't be beat. A short walk to Pikes Place was nice. All the employees we interacted with were great. The Lather bath products were actually nicer than I expected. The bad: First, we arrived early at 1pm. They didn't have our room available and said they would contact us when ready. Fair. Check in is at 4pm, and we hadn't heard by 420, so we came to see. They had not bothered to call us, but said our room was ready (as it should be after check in time), but they still needed to do a "final inspection" and made us sit in the lobby for a longer period to wait for the room to actually be ready. The Internet was barely usable unless you paid $15 a day. I don't remember the last time I've had to pay for usable Internet in a 4 star hotel. The Google cast they advertise is absolutely unusable. Even when connected, it reset at least every 10 minutes, often requiring turnng off for 5 minutes before you could use again (on the advice of the staff they sent to fix it). The Internet dropped several times. We had to call the front desk multiple times to come fix it, and should have truthfully called more, since we could barely use it. And most of the time, it just needed an unplugged and reset, but they had a big sign on the outlet warning you'd be charged $75 if you unplugged it. (Combined with a sign stating you'd be charged $25 if you stole the hand soap, so not exactly the vibe I'd expect from an upscale hotel). Housekeeping was only given when requested (we didn't use very often, and only had twice during our stay, but making the default as having to ask for it is also a minus). The fridge in the room was actually a mini bar so left very little space for any food or drinks you purchased. Overall, I'd find a place in the future near the location but would absolutely not recommend staying at this particular spot. Edit for the response: I get you don't want people messing with things, but there literally was no "behind the curtain" work except turning the TV off and on. I get it. Many people don't know what they are doing, but as someone who is fairly tech savvy, that ain't it. Also no response regarding the delayed check in, which was one of the major bummers, and the housekeeping services (we actually ran out of shampoo, even though it was empty on one of the two days we requested housekeeping services. Luckily, I brought a backup).
