I had an overall pleasant stay at the hotel, the room was clean, comfortable, and the facilities met expectations. The check-in process was smooth, and most of the staff at the check in counter were courteous and professional. We paid RM1700 for 2 nights. However, my experience at the restaurant was slightly affected by the attitude of a few foreign workers who appeared not very friendly (they were extremely friendly to the westerners) perhaps because of the “Colonialism-minded" but most of the Malaysian staff were just great and attentive. Similarly, some of the Nepalese security guards came across as dismissive and “rude”. The same goes to the person who takes care of the pool towels. While this didn’t overshadow the entire experience, I hope the hotel will look into improving customer service consistency across all staff.
Not 5star, decent condo apartment. Unique that it faces the cliffs, beautiful view. But rooms are not the best maintained, shower door was silly, as bath water wet the entire floor and soaked the foot rug. “King” bed was 2 super single beds combined. The breakfast “slots” first time we have to be allocated breakfast timings, weird tho possibly hotel trying to control bfast crowd. Will try elsewhere at my next visit to Ipoh.
It claims to be five-star but gives an experience that's less than what you'd have even in a four-star hotel. It's just a mid-range condominium -- imagine having to push through metal gates after exiting from the elevator (one was out of service for the three days we stayed there) and walking down an unsightly corridor sometimes littered with footwear outside units where families are staying. We booked a one-bedroom unit and we were appalled that three doors within the apartment were locked (if you have a vivid imagination, this won't go down well). Our bedroom was okay but the bathroom attached is very small with a very narrow shower cubicle (I'm small, but a wide person would be uncomfortable). There's barely any counter space around the sink to put your toiletries -- definitely NOT four- or five-star. Reception should have told us clearly what's free to be used in the kitchenette. Instead I received email saying we can only use the kitchen if we stayed 7 nights or more, or we would be charged: very annoying! After the fact, we found out that coffee pods were free and replenished every day. Anyway we used the microwave and water dispenser (as booking included kitchenette), which was good. Upon checking-in, we had to pick early or late breakfast (definitely not five-star treatment). The hotel really needs to expand and buck up their food service. The staff clearly was struggling to accommodate the great number of guests even with the staggered breakfast sessions. Pool has only ten deck chairs and even fewer parasols for the dozens of guests. Do better! Stop claiming to be five-star till you do much better.
