I have no idea why there are so many bad reviews here - the resort is absolutely great! All inclusive, there are no kids in adult only part of the resort as many stated, the staff was great! The room was huge, clean and it even had a tub! The food is delicious and they serve people around the pool too. I went to this delightful FREE tour to Playa del Carmen! They have a lot of great options for tours! I enjoyed my stay here to the max oh and the most adorable past is lots of very sweet and friendly raccoons on the property! Soooo cute all the guests were amazed by them and many tried to make friends! The only annoying part was the restaurant reservations so just go ahead to the front desk and book there. Everything else was amazing! Thank you.
I’m also surprised by the low reviews are for here! As others stated, El Beso is an adults-only section of the resort…which the website was upfront about and I knew that before coming here. I have no complaints about the restaurants or food - especially considering it’s included in the price. Still been better service and quality of food than I’ve received at most restaurants in the U.S. I’ve experienced 😅 The Casa Del Mar breakfast buffet had an overwhelming amount of choices from tamales, pastries, fresh juice, etc. You’ll find something you like for sure. The staff here have been some of the FRIENDLIEST people I’ve encountered. They made sure I felt welcome and consistently checked in on me and were so polite when I needed assistance locating a building or restaurant. There a ton of free activities provided as well! Fire shows, live music, yoga, kayak excursions, bowling, etc. Plenty to do while you’re here! The room was fine overall, but the A/C struggles a bit. Luckily there’s a fan in the room so I didn’t have any issues sleeping. I also wish the TV was a smart TV that comes with streaming services since the basic cable leaves something to be desired - but I’m also not here to watch TV regardless LOL! I also came during seaweed season so the beaches weren’t “picturesque” but I was informed of that upon my arrival and in the early mornings you’ll see trucks attempting at cleanup. All in all, for the price you pay…it’s worth it. If you better quality, then you’ll need to pay more money quite frankly. For MY budget, this place met my expectations with how much was included for the same price you’d pay for a Marriott or La Quinta in a large city.
If you are specifically aiming for an adults only experience, this property is not it. I feel the marketing is misleading for those using search engines to find adults-only accommodations, as this resort has only an adults “section” with a quiet pool and special buildings with adult rooms. The resort at-large is for families, with no other separations. If you want to enjoy the activities pool with the swim up bar, be prepared for some kids. All the dining experiences seem to be family friendly, and there were a myriad of babies through teens that we encountered and dined amongst during our stay. Crying babies at the Hibachi restaurant, strollers at the evening entertainment. This is NOT “adults only.” Had we known this more clearly before booking, we likely would have chosen elsewhere. (We love children, but don’t take our own on these resort style trips, so not looking to share the space with other young ones or teens either.) Most “little details” are missed in this resort experience. Restaurants were uninspired, kitschy, and mediocre service, plus impossible to get reservations. Housekeeping neglected to refill the basic items in the room (water, wine glasses, pool towels, coffee, even turn down service only happened once). Don’t expect anyone to remember your name or follow up on a request for help/assistance (such as the concierge scheduling dinner reservations every night— didn’t happen). While I can see this being a nice option on a budget especially for a wedding or family reunion, we will likely not be back for our once yearly relaxing trip as a couple. We are married, 37 & 45 at the time of this trip, and came to celebrate my husband’s birthday.
