Imi Hotel & Spa

Such a wonderful place to rest on our way to Santiago de compostella. We spent a time in the beautiful spa, which we had to ourselves. There is a fab vegetarian restaurant next door called Shangri La. We loved our stay here in Ourense. Would highly recommend this hotel. Breakfast was great too.

We took the high speed train here after our overseas flight to Madrid. Imi hotel’s spa was perfect for getting out the kinks before The Camino. The bubble in the warm pool complimented the great sauna and steam. Cold water bucket and hot water shower jets made for a complete experience. Easy location for dinner in Old Town. And the hotel service was excellent. As someone mentioned, more light in the bathroom would have been nice.

I stayed one night here recently and I'm giving 1 star because all of the fire doors I saw were propped open with wooden wedges, which would allow smoke to spread throughout the hotel and the exit staircase if there was a fire. This appears to be a huge life safety issue. The rooms felt old (maybe due to the condition of the walls) despite being relatively new hotel. The lights in the hallway only activate when motion is detected, which while good from an energy conservation perspective, is a bit scary to walk out from your room or elevator into a completely dark space while the lights turn on. It would be better if the spa was included in the hotel price instead of an additional charge as the spa facilities felt like a regular pool at other hotels. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Parking can be found in a private parking lot about a 3 minute walk away and was not expensive. If not for the fire safety issues, I would give 3 stars.
