Irton Hall

The service and food was very good. However, I can’t overlook the amount of dust and cobwebs in the room. I’m not fussy but I’m talking about thick grey cobwebs in all corners of the room. I also opened the blind and a sleeping bat fell out of the blind roll. He woke up, I opened the window and he flew out. No bats were harmed in the making of this review.

Our room was exceptionally run down and didn’t look anything like the photos on booking.com. Really disappointed to find mould all over the shower (if areas which could easily be scrubbed to remove it). There was mould in the grout, no power sockets near the beds, and the kettle was filthy inside. The entire place needs a huge renovation in all honesty. The best part was the animals in the garden and the green space at the front of the property. Staff were okay although not very welcoming. There was some huffing and puffing while we checked in.

We booked for three nights one of the cottages on the property. We arrived and the cottage smelled like animal waste. The carpets were stained throughout. The property host said she couldn’t refund us our stay because owner was out of the country. Showed us a hotel room that we could stay in and it was a little better but the smell of dog waste still very strong. Property seems run down and not cared for. Also not a good place to stay if wanting to visit Lake District roads are like wildlife paths, very winding, less then one lane at times, no shoulder, very dangerous to drive and stressful.
