The Highlander Hotel Iowa City an Ascend Collection Hotel

I stayed at The Highlander with my sister, brother, and our dad, and we had such a great time. The staff were super friendly and always happy to help with anything we needed. The best part was the pool area! It was really clean and relaxing, with lots of chairs and space to swim or just hang out. We spent a lot of time there and didn’t want to leave. Our rooms were comfy and clean, and the whole place felt very welcoming. We all had a lot of fun and would definitely come back. Highly recommend The Highlander!

This hotel is super kid friendly. They have a decent continental breakfast spread, the beds are comfortable, it’s clean, the pool area is super fun, arcade in the restaurant is way kid friendly and the staff is super nice. We keep coming back. The downsides - the rooms that open to the pool smell weird. Maybe the other ones do too but I haven’t stayed in them so I have no clue. There isn’t a lot of staff around so be patient.

Great experience and beautiful hotel, pool and hot tub were great!! I had a poolside room that was very nice and clean, large bed was comfy and really liked the retro look. The bathroom needed some updating but overall it was good. Went mid week so there seemed to be very limited staff, but everyone was really nice and attentive, especially the bartender Doug. It is listed as a luxury hotel so for the price, I expected there would be made to order breakfast but it was a hot continental instead. With that being said it was a nice getaway and I would definitely go again and recommend to friends. Right off the expressway and easy to find.
