We had never stayed at a Riu Hotel before, and are so glad that we chose this one. We had told them ahead of time that we were celebrating our Silver Anniversary, and there was a lovely surprise waiting for us in the room. The beds were comfortable, including the sofa bed for our teenage son. All the facilities were good, including the shower. Fantastic view from the room. And the breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, and managed very efficiently. Considering how many guests there are, we didn't once have to queue for more than 10 minutes.
We took a quick trip to NYC to take in a few Broadway shows and eat some good food and the Hotel Riu was the perfect choice. We were able to check in and leave our bags with Bell Service until our room was ready so we could get started. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. So refreshing to see smiles and have someone act like your trip is important to them as well. The location was PERFECT!! In the heart of the theater district so walking or subway was easy. The room boasted a cool view of NYC and was super clean and comfortable. We hired a car to take us to the airport. Not only was it reasonably priced but was waiting for us when we were ready to leave. We will be back!!
initially when we arrived at the hotel we were informed that they had overbooked the rooms so our room was not available, they offered us a room with a bed and a sofa bed which we refused, In fairness to the manager she did get us 2 single rooms for 1 night and then we were given a suitable room the next day, so they did accommodate our request but it took some negotiation. The rooms are nicely laid out, toilet door is frosted glass so be mindful who you are sharing with. The breakfast was lovely, great choice and the staff were very organised, the only issue I had was the lifts and the time you had to wait to get in one as we had to let atleast 2 or 3 go past as they were full, and you had to go to the lobby every morning to register in for breakfast then were ushered into the lift to floor 5 where breakfast was being served, if you went after 8.30 am the queue for breakfast was lengthy, but due to the size of the hotel and the amount of people requiring breakfast I think they did remarkably well to get everyone seated. The staff made the experience less painful as they always had a smile and helpful attitude, nothing was ever to much.I think the hotel requires more lifts to accommodate the size of hotel and the people in it. Location is very good minutes from Times Square, hotel has a nice lobby area where you can sit and have a drink or buy food pizza was very nice. Very accommodating on check out and were happy for us to store our suitcases until we were ready to go to the airport. All in all I would recommend the hotel.
